Do I need my own Claude API key?
Yes. Clauperator orchestrates Claude CLI, which requires either API credits or a Claude Max subscription. The app itself is free — you pay Anthropic directly for Claude usage.
What about the OpenAI API key?
The meta-prompt expansion step uses GPT-4o-mini to turn short ideas into detailed prompts. This is optional — you can write detailed prompts yourself and skip the expansion step entirely.
Can I self-host the SaaS mode?
Absolutely. The Team plan includes the SaaS backend with PostgreSQL, Google OAuth, and per-user isolation. Deploy it on your own servers or cloud infrastructure.
Is it open source?
Yes, Clauperator is open source. You can inspect the code, contribute, and build on top of it. The paid plans offer additional features, support, and managed infrastructure.
When will macOS and Linux be supported?
macOS and Linux builds are on the roadmap. The backend and frontend already run cross-platform — we just need to finalize the installers and testing.
